First Birthday

Tomorrow, February 24th is Mallory's first birthday.  We celebrated this weekend at home with just grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins.  I wonder what Mallory thought was going on when our house filled with so many people.  She didn't seem to mind.

We had a cupcake themed party.  Kris made a cupcake liner garland, I made a cupcake shaped cake, but fortunately grandma Margaret made cupcakes, mine turn out okay, but not good enough to share.  The sun came out so the kids enjoyed the trampoline and Conrad's car.  They rode bikes and threw the ball.  All in all it was a great day.

Mallory has four teeth on top and the two front bottom ones.  It looks like the next two front bottom ones are working their way in now as well.  She tries to walk, if she holds onto things she can do fine, but even when we hold her hands she prefers to squat down to crawl.  She was put on Conrad's trike this weekend and actually made it all around the backyard just fine on that thing.

She is a bright blue eyed girl who is getting blond curls in back.

She likes to be turned upside down and will toss her head back wanting you to flip her over.

She has many things to say, but not always clearly.  She does wave bye bye and I have seen blow kisses, but it is just infrequent enough I am not sure if it is just by chance or if she is really doing it.

Conrad is taking swim lessons twice a week.  He loves the pool and water, but was a little thrown when he had a different teacher last week and did not want to partake in the lesson. He has a lot to say and is a very kind boy.

He loves the park and hiking at the waterfalls.  He is adventurous and cautious all at the same time.

Kris and I are staying very busy at work.  We seem to find plenty to do when we aren't at work too.  My office will be moving into a new building soon so I will be adjusting to a new space and a new employee as we will be filling our empty payroll position too.

I am looking forward to the sunny weather and getting out more again.  I think it could be a fantastic spring and summer.  I know that the year ahead will bring all sorts of changes.  The year between 1 and 2 brings vast changes for a growing kiddo and I think is a fun and exciting time.
