Swim Said the Momma Fishie, Swim if You Can

Last night we took Conrad to the community pool for his fist swim in the big pool and a swim lesson.  It is pretty great really Albany has a community pool where every Tuesday and Thursday they do swim lessons.  You can come when you like, no set schedule or registration.  Each session is a half an hour and they are so busy they have three sessions going at a time and do this every half hour from 6 to 8pm.  I wasn't entirely sure what to expect.  Kris and I both had swim lessons very young and I knew that basically it would be getting him used to the pool and his head under water, laying back, kicking, etc.  He wasn't exactly happy with the swimming, but he didn't cry until one part, but more about that in a minute.  We did little songs swishing the kids around and "jumping" them up and down.  Laying them on their backs head against you, moving their arms in motion, moving their legs to kick.  We even did jumping off the side of the pool into the water.  Of course with Conrad it was more like holding him on the side then moving him up and into the pool like he jumped.  The part where Conrad cried was at the point where the teacher had the kids pick a toy and we were supposed to have the babies swim to the toy, so move their hands in motion toward the toy to get the idea of pulling through the water to swim to the toy.  Conrad was okay with that, although he didn't really understand what I wanted him to do, BUT then when he did get the toy and I took it away from him and made him do it again, well a couple times of me snatching the toy out of his hands and he wasn't very happy.  He just wanted the thing so he could put it in his mouth.  All in all he did pretty good and we will keep going for awhile so that he can keep getting the idea.  He was so distracted by the other kids and all of what was going on at the pool he didn't even realize what was happening so that he could enjoy it.  Conrad was the youngest there I am pretty sure.  If fact Kris heard one lady say something like, he is just a baby what is he doing here?  but then others said it was good to start young so they get used to the pool.  I do think it would have maybe helped a little if he was at least crawling since he really wasn't getting the idea of pulling his hands through the water as he still doesn't get the idea of doing that on the ground to move either. Oh well we had a nice time.  He was great about it.

This has been a pretty crazy week for me, I guess what else is new?  We started the week with it being time entry which is the busiest time for me in my job and we were down a few employees so it was even busier than usual.  I of course missed lunch a couple times this week which means no workout which leads to me eating not as well rather than the other way around where I should eat better when I miss workouts.  On top of that I have a cold so all week I have had a runny nose and have lost my voice.  Endless meetings and we are trying to recruit for the open payroll position we have too.  I am looking forward to this weekend, it is supposed to be pretty nice so maybe we will get outside.  I am bringing some work home for nap time but it is basically some reading so it should almost be fun, right?

Kris and I have been doing a lot of sorting things out in our lives, things like we changed banks, got some things paid off, getting some items we have been wanting/needing like a safe to lock the guns up in, and we are trying to see about refinancing.  I think things are really headed in a good direction and we are doing really well and happy, but it is a lot going on and just keeping things straight.  Time is flying by but then I am looking forward to a couple of things this summer (like Hawaii) so time is going slow too. Just over another week and we are going to California to see Kristi, Ed and Ella.  I am excited for the break away and to see them again.  Another first for Conrad.

Come on summer, I'm ready!
