Happy Boy

Conrad is six and half months old now.  He is such a happy boy.  I'm not going to lie he does get whiny when he is tired or really hungry, that is a out right cry of anger that I am not feeding him.  Overall though he is very happy to play with his toys, jump in his activity center or Johnny Jump Up, and to be tickled;  he is very ticklish.  He always has big smiles when we take him to daycare in the morning, so I take that to mean he has a good time there.  Our daycare lady has her grandson there and he is only a couple weeks older than Conrad so they are friends and will babble to each other and share toys.  I am so glad we have found a great place for him to be and he is so happy, thanks Catherine for the suggestion!

Last week Conrad was having some tummy troubles and we had him on a baby version of the BRAT diet.  I don't know what caused the trouble, but I think it was a bug not something he ate since even after we stopped all foods other than his formula and rice cereal it continued for a week.  Good news just when I thought it could not go on and we needed to take him in for some blood work or something, things firmed up.  Yep he is better now.

So far no teeth have broken through.  He gets very drooly and wants to chew or have something in his mouth ALWAYS but still nothing.  He sits up great, rolls over one way no problem, the other not as much.  He is not really getting crawling or scooching or anything, when we try to put him on his tummy to sort of encourage this learning he just rolls over.  He will stand strongly, of course when held onto, but doesn't seem to want to walk or make any motions toward that; not that we really expect him to.

Sleeping is going much better, but just when I say that things will change, even last night he woke up an extra time than he has been.  He will wake up once wanting to eat a little something then is good until morning, sometimes morning come a little earlier than I would like - I wish he would sleep while I get ready so i am not trying to keep him entertained, but we'll get there and I hate when he does sleep and I have to wake him up - I feel so bad waking him.  i thought with the time change he would be up a bit later at night and then sleep until about time for us to leave, no, it didn't seem to change anything for him, bed time was still at about 7 even though that should have felt like 6 and wake at 6 even though that should have felt like 5... dang.

Kris thinks he will be left handed since he does seem to use that hand a lot for grabbing toys and things, but I certainly think it is too early for that to mean anything.  He also thinks his hair is a bit curly.  It is lighter now and really filling in, I think it is just that way when it is not brushed after a bath.  I think he looks more and more like Kris, but we do still get comments that he looks like me.  He has what I call Flintstones feet since they fat.  His hands have always been on the larger size too.  Who knows maybe a future basketball player?

It is funny to think I can hardly remember when he was just born and I was home with him all day.  How it was then, how small he was, how often he ate and slept, his head has always been pretty strong but his limited mobility and strength, now to be where we are in such a short amount of time.  No wonder these guys are hungry and tired, there is so much learning and growing going on every day.

We love our little guy.  He is a joy.
