Five Months

Five months already?  The other night I was giving Conrad a bath and for the first time he started to play in it.  He took his hand and splashed the water over and over.  I know why is this so exciting?  Conrad has been in a period of hating bath time and it was basically a period of screams and crys the past few he has not cried but pretty much just seems to want it to be over.  So now that he can sit in the water mostly without help he seems much more comfortable and is starting to maybe enjoy this time a little.  It makes this one little task easier.

For those who don't live in the Albany area you may have heard the news reports that we have had some pretty serious flooding.  They are basically true, but with everything it seems so much worse by the news reports than what I am really seeing as I drive around.  We had snow over the holiday weekend which was pretty fun.  It really didn't stick or stay around and wasn't deep but it was pretty while it lasted.  I took Conrad out in it one morning before work and in his little snow suit he wouldn't or maybe couldn't sit up so he laid in the middle of the yard wondering why I was putting him through this.  His first snow.

Then the snow turned to hard never ending rain.  We had two full days and nights of really hard rain so of course, ditches were full, rivers were cresting.  It was all too much too fast.  Some roads were closed and there were high water warnings everywhere.  Our daycare closed one day because you couldn't get to her house. OSU has closed and opened late a couple of days now.  The rain let up and has been on and off, I am sure there are still trouble spots, but the roads seemed to be clear now.I think it should be back to business as usual now.

Before all of this weather my parents came for a little visit.  Conrad was right in the middle of a pretty yucky cold.  He was a trooper and was a good host to his grandma and papa, but this is what his weekend consisted mostly of...

asleep on grandma's shoulder
taking a nap with Papa

Falling asleep in daddy's arms

The much needed rest helped him get well again though and his cold is gone except for the occasional cough that still catches in his throat.  No back to getting on track sleeping at night.  We have been up and down again a lot lately.  He doesn't want to be alone.
