We finally had our baby yesterday. He arrived at 6:11pm after a long day.
I started having contractions at about 3:00am and came to the hospital at 8am and was already at 6cm. They started right away to get av IV going but had to try three different spots. Finally I was getting fluids and they were able to draw blood so I decided to get an epidural. It took long enough I was probably further along than I thought and maybe didn't need it, but I didn't know it was going so fast.
Once I got that they just had me rest until either my water broke or the doctor came back to see my dilation. When she did come back just about an hour later my water broke very easily I was a 10 and we started pushing. After about two hours we decided I would rest as he was so close and they didn't think it would be much longer. So I slept for about an hour before we started pushing again.
Conrad was right there for so long. We could see his long dark hair and I was making progress with my pushes, but he was a little turned and couldn't make that last hump to get out. The doctor tried to turn him but he wouldn't stay that way. His heart rate was great I was great so there was no real rush but it just kept getting later and I was getting tired. We decided to try thee vaccum. Doc "pulled" with that while I pushed. We were so close. Finally she gave me a little episiodomy to make so room and he came out.
He has been eating and pooped and peed too. Is sleeping great and we are both doing great. We got a little rest last night.
Visiting hours are 2-8pm and you are all welcome to come meet him. We will be here all day and home sometime tomorrow.
