Baby Stuff is Taking Over

Can it really already be the middle of May? Saturday some very wonderful friends of mine put on a baby shower for me.  I had a really nice mix of friends and family, thank you all for being there and those who couldn't make it I hope to see you all soon.  We had good food and so many gifts.  Our little baby boy will be welcomed with many wonderful things and plenty of fashionable outfits too.  My parents were here to visit so my mom was able to go to the shower with me and meet new friends and see some old ones too.  My dad and Kris stayed home and got the first step of the wainscoting up in the nursery.  When they put things back in the room rather than having it all in the middle and just tossed in they had brought back the furniture and sort of pushed them into place where they may go in the room.  It was nice to see it looking much more put together that way and it looked nice and roomy.  Thanks boys for doing all that work.

There were a few things I hadn't received at the shower and wanted to start getting so we can put the nursery together even more.  So this evening after my parents headed home and I had cleaned up the house and bit Kris and I went to a few stores in Salem and got some sheets and another changing table cover.  I went through all of the things I got and sorted the outfits to be put away or washed and put bathroom stuff in the bathroom, that sort of thing.  Then I just sort of went through what things I might need still and trying to remember what my sister thought she had that she was going to bring me...

This week Kris is leaving to California for most of the week.  A very wonderful and good friend is getting married there and I am so glad he will be able to go and attend.  I would have loved to but with everything happening for me and the timing at work I just couldn't add that in this time.  I am disappointed but I know I will be able to celebrate with them when they are back and things settle down again.  With Kris being gone it will be strange to be here alone.  I have already decided what I will be doing though... maybe working on some baby name letters for a friend - getting ready for her soon to be arrival.  I have another friend who will be having her twins next week and I will need to start on her letters soon, but first I have to find out these two additions names!  I am so excited to get to meet them both, add them to the bunch.

Kris and I still don't have a name picked out.  We toss them around here and there and have a few we both like but haven't committed to.  Kris has talked about waiting to see the baby before naming him, I don't feel the need to if we feel like we have just the right name picked out, but so far nothing has been the absolute favorite so it may be that we don't have one picked until he is here and we can meet him.

He has been moving and kicking more and more - or I feel it more and more. I definitely feel it most on my left side so he is head to the right or maybe still down.  I haven't felt anything that I can identify as a foot or hiccups or something and can't tell specifically where he is kicking me, but like his father he seems to be a night owl - oh goody!

So with my parents here we got to talking more about our birth weights and delivery times.  Kris was 10lbs 4 or 6 oz. and I was 7lbs, 11oz I think my mom said.  She tells me I was born in 49 minutes.  She wasn't feel labor for a while I guess.  Yes I was a second but my sister was born in an hour and half, so both of us were pretty quick.  Kris I guess was about 2 hours and as a first.  So that tells me I need to be paying some attention and maybe get to the hospital sooner rather than later.  I guess I hope this means a quick delivery for me, but not so quick we aren't where we need to be with the pros.
