Halfway to One

Conrad had his 6 month appointment on Monday. The appointment itself went very well, as usual he is doing great.  Hitting all the right size marks and weight ranges.  he was 18.15 pounds and is 27 and 3/4 inches long.  He is all the right amounts of pudgy and very solid.  He was a little more concerned about strangers this time.  He is pretty good about strangers but eyes them closely and I think wants mom or dad near by.  He even did really well with the shot part.  I had given him some Tylenol before the appointment to help take the edge off.  he cried while they were poking him, I think more because two ladies were holding him down and messing with him and not as much the shots themselves, they are very fast it is amazing.  So all-in-all the appointment was just great.

Yesterday, however, was a different story.  While Kris and I get ready in the morning Conrad usually kind of plays with a few toys sitting on floor in our room.  Sometimes he does fuss due to being bored or maybe hungry.  He was not happy about having to sit and wait.  I tried to feed him and he ate but that didn't really make him happy, his pacifier wasn't pleasing him either.  On the car ride to daycare he usually either falls back to sleep or plays and babbles, nope he was fussing.  I got him out and took him into daycare where he usually gives Ronnie a big smile and instead he started crying.  It was the first time I left him crying.

I got a message latter that he had spiked a temp, not uncommon after these shots, but of course he didn't feel good.  His spot where he got one shot in particular was all hard and red when Kris got him home later.  Poor guy must have felt awful.  This morning was a turn around though, back to his old happy smiley self.

Good news no more shots until a year.  Fun birthday gift, right?

Last night we were playing peek-a-boo with Conrad and he was so cute, he would cover his own face or head with the blanket and then pull it off.  He is always so happy to play with daddy.  If Kris waited too long to uncover his own face Conrad would start sort of scratching at the floor with a waving hand motion like he wanted the hands to move, then Kris would comply and he would smile and giggle.  Another favorite right now is a little bucket that has plastic shaped blocks in it, one of those with the lid that has the shape cut outs for them to put the piece into the bucket with.  Well Conrad doesn't really get how to work it, but he is liking the pieces and hitting the bucket and dumping out all of the shapes.  So Kris will repeatedly pick them all up and put them back in the bucket, Conrad will give him a look like - dad I just emptied that - and then grab the bucket for another turn over of its contents.

Woke up to snow this morning and the weather is fussy today for sure.  On and off, snow, rain, clearing...  Of course it is pouring now and I have to go out in it soon!  Well back to work, busy busy busy.
