They Say Time Flys - Or Do We Just Forget?

Conrad is three months old as of tomorrow.  The age thing is a little weird because not every month has the same number of days so you start off thinking in weeks and then sort of switch to months.  Anyway three months doesn't seem that old, but it feels like it has been a long time since I was at the hospital.  Somehow three months doesn't seem like long either, it is funny how it can be both ways.  So much has happened in this short amount of time though.  The most obvious is how much he has grown and changed in appearance.  I don't know a current weight but will have to weigh him this week at my parents (they have a bathroom scale I can use - we don't) Even without that you can just see the fuller face and chubby legs.  He is long too.  I was looking at how long he really is just yesterday and how I can't hold him across my lap the same in his rocking chair.  He is heavy enough I have a hard time lifting him into his crib, I need my arm under him and then trying to get it out from under him and not wake him, it is a feat.  Conrad is also smiling, cooing, laughing, responding.  He grabs and bats at toys and is sort of grabbing things and lifting them to his mouth.  I am not sure if he is really just trying to get his hands and there happens to be some teether there or if he somehow knows he is doing this and is really trying to get the teether to his mouth, but either way he is getting there with the motor skills.

He still has his head of hair, mostly.  A lot has fallen out.  he has a bald ring from rubbing but also the top has thinned and funnily enough the back bottom has not.  he has a sort of mullet.  His cowlick looks like such a swirl Kris has been calling him hurricane.  His grip is pretty strong and he is sitting up (well with help from us or the Bumbo) pretty well.

Conrad had gotten into a pretty good pattern of sleeping until 4 a.m. most nights (the others were 2 or 3) then eating and falling back to sleep for a few more hours, but I have to say his schedule was off this weekend and he didn't sleep as long for that first stint, last night he was pretty up and down.  hopefully being back at daycare will get him back on track.  It is not so much the tiredness but the frustration that I know he can and has slept longer so why isn't he... and the not knowing when we go to bed what is in store for that night - a long sleep or up and down?

There are somethings you miss, like maybe sleeping in until YOU are ready to get out of bed not when the BABY wants you to get out of bed, but having him has really been the best.  He melts my heart all of the time, he makes such cute faces even when he is crying, I love the putting out the bottom lip with such drama about whatever he is bothered by.  I am glad to be back to work and the routine, but I do miss him and can't wait to get home and be with him.

Thanksgiving at my parents house this year.  I have been fortunate to have been able to see my parents and my sister, brother-in-law and niece a few times already recently (something about a baby being born) but with Conrad changing so quickly it will be fun to see them all again this week and have them see his changes.  I think my niece will like him a little better as he is a little more able to play and respond to her now.  Can't wait to relax all together.  Hope he does well in the car again.

Football is over, well home games are and only one more to watch, so we have our weekends free again.  I have a picture session set up to get some professional shots of C man taken and we will get back to visiting the local family and friends too.  Holidays are coming, my neighbor put up all of their Christmas lights already, yikes! I'm not ready for that yet, it seems like fall flew by.  Or is it that I just can't remember everything that has happened.  All of those little moments you never want to forget.

I am so thankful for my gorgeous wonderful family and all of the time I have had to be with our little boy.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
