The water was still a bit too cold for swimming but Ben still jumped in, mostly after the dog who wasn't making headway back to us in the rush of the current. She just didn't seem to know to head sideways so Ben jumped in to guide her to the side and enjoyed a bit of time in the water. He said once he got in it was okay, but when he got out he was done for sure.
Monday Kris and I actually went back up to the cabin and took the mower. We mowed the road in and out and trimmed a few limbs that were low hanging. We walked out to the lookout over the gorge again and enjoyed the great day again then headed home. No trip to the cabin is complete without some ice cream from the gingerbread house so we stopped there for a cool treat.
While at the cabin we got the bedding stuff from Kris' mom for the nursery. So of course we put that all together yesterday too. She made us a crib skirt, valance, diaper holder, and quilt. They all turned out fantastic and look good. the window valance isn't up yet, but that is the last thing (well and a picture for the wall and name letters once we pick a name and I get time to paint them).
This is the crib skirt, stripes with a pleat that has the polka dot fabric in it.
The quilt has patches of different plaids, polka dots, solids, and stripes. Then patches spelling out Yates across it too. She put the minky fabric around the edge and back so it is also soft and snugly for this little guy when he get a bit bigger.
These are the valance pieces. Striped with a gingham piece and a row of the polka dot. Very cute.
Friday was my first day at the new job and I am back again today of course. It has been a little interesting transitioning as access is getting turned off and other things switched over and getting everything up and running the way I need it seems to be a bit of a task, so I feel like I am still only half here, but we will get there. I am still not entirely sure what my day to day tasks are and what I should be working on and the things I know I can work on I don't have access to so that slows it all down, but I guess we can call this week one so it will start coming together soon.
This week we have belly pictures being taken tomorrow by a friend. She has always taken good pictures and I have seen her belly pictures she did for a friend and thought they were pretty great so I am excited to see what ideas she has and how they turn out. Thursday is our last childbirth class. I have one more class I am going to take this month about breastfeeding and then there is one in August we may go to, but I think we will be all set and just ready for this little bundle to arrive. The waiting will be interesting. I am definitely starting to feel like I am just ready for him to be here.
Well I better call that my break and get back to work now, whatever I can do of it anyway.
Happy 4th of July!
