Even though we can't wait for our little baby to get here we know that every day our bun stays in the oven he benefits. The baby's growth now slows down dramatically, which is great news for me and my huge belly and the reality of where or how this baby will make it's way into this world. His bones are still soft and pliable and will solidify after he's born to help with this fun time as well.
So if he's all cooked and ready to go, you may wonder what the heck is he still doing in there? I understand that he is busy practicing for his life out here. He is working on his breathing, sucking, sleeping, gazing and even peeing abilities.
Babies of course vary in size and length and there is no way to know for sure how big ours will be, but the average length is between 19 and 20 inches and approximately 6 pounds. I do wonder how old the average of 6 pounds is because it sure seems to me an average of more like 7-8 would be appropriate based on the babies I have know most recently.
As for the new baby reference, Kris' brother and his wife had their baby yesterday. She was born at about 1am Saturday. Her name is Charlotte and she was 20 inches long and almost 7 pounds. Kris and I went to the hospital and visited yesterday, they all seemed to be doing well. She has full head of dark hair and very long fingers and feet.
