My belly is getting bigger and I am feeling this little buddy more and more. He is seemingly pretty clam though. he has his times when he seems to become more active, but even those times aren't usually so crazy or don't last too long. I guess only time will tell if that is any sign of a calm baby to come.
Last night we had dinner at our friends with other babies, toddlers and a few five year olds there. It was crazy activity with all of the kids but was fun to think we soon will be adding to this mayhem ourselves. Our group of friends has sure grown with the babies we are all adding. Another baby shower next weekend and then the last that I have on my schedule the next weekend. We are getting down to those last weeks, I still have awhile, but it just seems to be going by quickly.
Kris worked on the baby room this weekend and got the wainscoting pretty much done, he just has to put the top cap on then we will fill holes and be ready to paint. My parents are coming to visit one more time in a few weeks and have thoughtfully offered to paint. We should be ready and that of course will be very helpful. Once that is done I am really looking forward to getting stuff settled in there, getting the bedding, and putting things into place.
Kris' mom and step dad bought us a chair for the room, as if making all of the bedding isn't enough. It arrived this weekend and we picked that up today, we also got a rug for the floor. We have carpet in there that is in pretty good shape too so the rug is really just for looks but it is a mix of blue and brown shag that will bring the darker tones in and be a good contrast to the white wainscoting and light blue walls. The chair is also a dark brown, hopefully all of the colors will come together okay and it won't be too many variations on brown and blue. I think it will come together really nicely.
With all of the big pieces of baby gear we have already gotten (swing, bouncy thing, stroller, etc.) and the boxes those things have come in, our garage seems to be rather full. Also the nooks and closets and spare space in our house is being taken for storage of all of these wonderful things. Especially when things aren't settled in the nursery so things are in the hall and spare rooms to get them out of the way. Still somehow there is more to get and to bring in... okay nothing that is absolutely essential, we could bring baby home today and he would survive, but you know those items that make life easier anyway. My sister is kindly planning to bring a bunch of the little things she still has like a bath tub and Boppy, more blankets and I don't even remember what all, but yes I was still able to spend a chunk of change this weekend on little things I have been wanting. I also ordered the baby monitor I wanted. I know a video monitor is not essential but it is a little luxury we will enjoy and mom and dad are getting that one as a gift for our little bud. Hopefully it arrives in time for them to check it out when they are here.
Here is the chair, it glides or rocks and has an ottoman that glides as well. A lovely soft chenille corduroy. I hop it holds up okay and is good for feeding and bedtime stories as baby grows.
This week I will start my 29th week:
At 29 weeks our baby's brain can now control his breathing and body temperature. He can cough, and his sucking abilities have been perfected. He is packing on the pounds which is making his skin look less wrinkled. He's beefing up on the energizing and insulating white fat he'll be born with.
And speaking of energy, your little Energizer Bunny is on fire these days. He is a little over 15 inches long this week which is about the length of a loaf of bread and he weighs about 3 pounds. I guess all of the weight I have gained is water not baby, I hope it is water anyway I am trying not to pack unnecessary fat, but I must say the sweets have been calling my name lately.
